FAQ & Account Deletion

What is The Crater Report? The Crater Report is a community-powered road hazard reporting app. Users report potholes, speed traps, surveillance cameras, and other road hazards to help drivers navigate safely.

How do I report a road hazard? Open the app, tap the Pothole, Speed Cam, or Big Brother button on the map, or go to the Report tab for more detailed reporting options.

How do points work? Earn points for every report you file, photos you add, community notes, and confirming other reports. Points unlock rank tiers and badges.

How do I delete my account and data? To request deletion of your Crater Report account and all associated data including reports, photos, and community notes, email us at: support@thecrater.report

All account data will be permanently deleted within 30 days of your request. This includes your email address, reports, photos, community notes, and leaderboard entries.

What data does the app collect?

  • Email address (for login)
  • GPS location (for placing reports on the map)
  • Photos (only if you choose to add them to reports)
  • Community notes and reports you submit

Is my location data shared with other users? Your reports are visible on the map but your identity is only shown as your username. Your exact location is only recorded at the time of a report.
